Why post comments that put you down and how to respond to them

Post by Abdur12 »

Criticism on a blog is healthy. Even if you are criticized, you can benefit from it. Don't be afraid of looking bad. In this post I offer some advantages to posting comments that attack you and I propose some possibilities of how to respond to them.

I recently wrote a post about what you can do if your mother doesn't comment on your blog and what you could do about it. Maybe you don't have that problem, but the opposite. Maybe the comments you receive sometimes contain content you don't like and she criticizes you in an unjustified way. What do you do? Do you publish it?

How to moderate negative comments

I just posted a comment that has me in stitches. There are many reasons for this, in fact. My lack of proofreading and grammatical errors on this blog are one example. There are no excuses for this, I simply prioritize other things (e.g. 5 more minutes of sleep). However, the criticism received was not aimed at this point.

I would highlight the part of the comment in particular: “ This is journalist emails probably the worst advice ever for online advertising ”. In the post I give some advice on how to design a banner . I don’t care too much about this type of criticism, I would even say that I almost care about the opposite. I like posting these comments. Why do I recommend you do the same?

All opinions that do not offend are valid : if you do not want to hear what others say, do not create a blog. The comments field exists for a reason. You can agree or not, but your opinion is not the only one in the world.

Take advantage of this as a moment of self-reflection : it doesn't matter if you think the comment is justified or not. You can be the best blogger and writer in the world. It's okay to be criticized from time to time so that you can try harder and never slack off.

You can generate a lot of traffic : Sometimes a troll may be behind a comment that puts you down. If it is a direct attack on you and it is obvious that it is only used to provoke you, you will see how your readers will jump to your defense. A “debate” of this type can generate a lot of traffic to your blog, so there are even reasons to be careful with your trolls .
