Sketching with the Crazy 8 methodology
5. Quality over quantity in testing
As the title may already describe, it is important to test thoroughly. In retrospect, we had planned relatively many (ten) test assignments, which caused testers to spend a long time performing the assignments and lose their concentration. That is why we believe that it is better to do five test assignments very thoroughly than ten more superficially. On the one hand, to get a complete picture and on the other hand, to maintain the tester's concentration and monitor the test budget. We adjusted this during the test process in order to test as effectively as possible. In doing so, we focused on the most important goals on the website. 5 examples:
Read more about the audit of the annual accounts and get in touch with a contact person responsible for this.
See if you can find another customer's experience about the Agricultural sector.
Find a blog about grant advice.
You are considering selling your company and would like to read more about it.
6. Film both the tester and the way he or she hospital email lists performs the tasks
We recorded both the test administration (digital image) and the tester with Lookback to get a complete picture. We can recommend this to everyone because it gave us various and sometimes surprising insights. For example, a tester had the task of downloading a specific whitepaper. We saw in the Lookback video that this task was completed quickly, but this did not match the facial expression (looked confused) of the tester.
Afterwards we discussed this with the tester and he explained to us that he found the text in the call to action button (request) confusing. This problem was solved by a small textual change (request whitepaper) in the button.
7. Involve end users and colleagues in testing
During testing, we found it valuable that both customers (end users) and employees of de Jong & Laan were involved. In addition, end users were valuable to test whether the prototype matched their needs. It was also valuable to ask and process internal people's feedback early on and to realize involvement and support for the project. The project managers of de Jong & Laan noticed that the arrival of the new website and the involvement of colleagues (various departments) ensured that the project came to life more internally.
