Manu Alvarez and his 3D Anthropometric Models

Post by pappu6329 »

We recently received an email with a crowdfunding proposal and we thought it was a very interesting project, so we wanted to share this project with the users who read our blog (few and timid, but brave entrepreneurs).

Manu Álvarez is an Industrial Mechanical Engineer and holds a Master's degree in Industrial Product Design from the University of Coventry (UK).

After his exodus to Great Britain for more than 13 years and passing through large and legendary companies such as Jaguar or Nissan, he decided to create Mandesso Design. He is currently CEO of Mandesso and Co-founder of Smotion ( Smart Mobility Products Alliance ).

1. Hi Manu, tell us what is Mandesso? What does it offer to companies?

Mandesso design is a company dedicated to the conceptualization, design and development of mobility products.

After more than 13 years working in the design and development bolivia telegram phone numbers centres of brands such as Jaguar, Nissan and Alfa Romeo, we have extracted all the knowledge and methodologies from the major brands, adapting them to apply them to the niche market, i.e. small series. This allows small companies to benefit from solutions that would otherwise be difficult to access.

Mandesso Design offers, on the one hand, the process of creating new mobility products, from conceptualization to project management, and including the historical analysis of the brand, market trends, concept generation and development.

2. Why did you decide to crowdfund this project? And why on Kickstarter?

Mandesso Design has a collaborative work methodology in its DNA. The crowdfunding process allows, due to its characteristics, a mutual benefit between users and project promoters. On the one hand, the project can be planned minimising the risk of the proposal, since the following phases are not carried out if the total funding is not obtained.

On the other hand, and what is more important for us, is that the product is made available to a larger number of users at a lower cost. The projects are innovative, and these users can benefit from them before the rest of the market, under more favourable conditions.

At Mandesso Design we wanted to make the 3D Digital Anthropometric Mannequin project accessible to all users who design and develop any type of product, at a fraction of the price of the limited existing offering.

We chose the Kickstarter platform because it is one of the most influential platforms globally. This allows, a priori, the project to be visible to a greater number of users.

3. What is 3D Digital Anthropometric Dummy?

Nowadays, we use 3D software to design cars, furniture, houses, wheelchairs, and all kinds of objects. In this process, ergonomics plays a very important role, and yet most ergonomic studies are carried out using 2D human models.

Different human models are not simply the same scaled mannequin. The proportions of babies are different from those of young people, and these, in turn, differ from those of adults.

With our project we propose to model a complete range of 3D digital anthropometric models, 29 in total, covering the entire percentile range, from 2-month-old babies to female and male adults, these in percentiles 1, 50 and 95.

Using existing anthropometric information data in 2D drawings, 3D digital models will be built to accommodate 98% of the US population. Using the 2D dimensioned drawings as a base, we will model 3D models that maintain all of these key measurements and proportions.
