Briefly about other main HTTP error codes
The dialogue between the client crypto email list program (browser, search engine robot, etc.) and the server, differing only in details, is conducted according to the same principles: client request — server response in the form of a code. It consists of a three-digit number (the first digit of which indicates the HTTP status class) and an explanatory phrase in English. After reading the primary instruction, the program understands how to continue working with the requested document or page. Each class can have several code variations. Next, we will figure out what error 304 is, what causes it to occur, and what methods of correction exist.
What is Error 304
If the search bot has already seen the document/page in the form in which they are currently presented, the server returns the code 304 Not Modified. This means that the cache generated during the previous visit is relevant (If-Modified-Since or If-Match have not changed). That is, the robot does not need to fully examine part of the site again, it will be enough to get the http headers and move on, significantly saving time on indexing.

This reduces the load on the server, which needs to transmit only modified documents or pages to the requester. Accordingly, the speed of work increases: if the user needs to get to a page that has remained unchanged since the previous visit, the document is not sent again, the browser issues a local copy, previously saved in the cache.
The server response contains the following header fields (they always end with an empty line):
Date;
ETag or Content-Location;
Expires, Cache-Control or Vary.
The Not Modified error may appear on any of the following operating systems:
Windows 2000;
Windows ME;
Windows XP;
Windows Vista;
Windows 7;
Windows 8;
Windows 10.

Signs of HTTP Error 304
The active program window closes after displaying the message "HTTP Error 304".
The browser you are using repeatedly reports an HTTP 304 error on one or more web resources.
Displays "Not Modified".
Windows runs slowly, with delayed response to mouse or keyboard input.
The computer freezes for a while (happens periodically).
Not always browser error messages reflect the true state of affairs. For example, "Page Not Found" (HTTP 404) can be issued even when visiting a normally functioning page. The same with error 304, which does not always indicate a page that has not really been changed since the last scan. The error can be the result of a number of reasons, which we will consider in the next section.
