Digitalization of the construction industry is inevitable

Post by thouhidul32 »

Ultimately, having opportunities for ongoing professional development such as the BIM Leadership Community and a strong management culture that encourages experimentation, allows for mistakes and a sense of psychological safety will help attract new employees and improve the productivity of existing ones.

Erlich expressed all these ideas with the caveat that the problem of personnel shortage is canada email list also caused by a banal lag in their training. A dilemma arises: personnel training begins when there is a demand for them. However, due to the length of the development cycle of relevant educational programs, training should begin several years before the demand for new competencies only appears on the horizon. Fortunately, the state and private companies have been working in this direction for several years now.

Educational programs for students and not only
Due to the trend towards BIM and other digital technologies, the problem of shortage of IT specialists does not bypass the construction industry. The state, in turn, has been promoting and implementing various educational initiatives for several years.

According to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, more than 90 thousand places were allocated for training in IT specialties for the 2022/23 academic year, and the number of those admitted ultimately amounted to 117.1. This trend has continued from the previous year with a planned figure of 80 thousand and 113.8 thousand actually admitted.

Another measure aimed at satisfying the personnel shortage in the IT sector is the opening of "digital departments" in universities. In 2022, such departments appeared on the basis of 115 Russian universities participating in the state program "Priority 2030". According to Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko , each educational institution developed educational programs for additional professional retraining independently. In total, 300 programs were launched in such areas as: development of digital products, web applications, administration of domestic operating systems and many others. It is expected that by the end of 2025, more than 385 thousand students will graduate from "digital departments".

According to the authorities' plans, training teachers and methodologists in new digital skills should also help overcome the personnel shortage. For this purpose, an association of educational organizations was created in 2021 to form a communication mechanism between educational organizations. According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, this will allow teachers and methodologists to be trained as quickly as possible, as well as to adapt digital educational modules for students to real market demands. Retraining of teachers is carried out at Innopolis University. By the end of 2024, it is planned to train 80 thousand Russian teachers and methodologists.

About the path of learning BIM technologies: from the first bachelor's degree to continuing education in a master's degree and applying knowledge and skills in practice.

National and Federal Initiatives
As has been said before, the authorities see the solution to the problem of personnel shortage in increasing labor productivity. Even Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the critical importance of this task during his address to the Federal Assembly on February 29.

To help enterprises optimize production processes in Russia, the national project "Labor Productivity" from the Federal Competence Center (FCC) has been in effect for 6 years. FCC specialists help businesses find internal growth points, reduce costs and increase profits free of charge. According to the official website of the project, 410 organizations in 29 different areas of activity are among the participants from the construction industry.

Another national project aimed at replenishing personnel is directly related to digitalization. Thus, Anna Evsyukova, Director of the Career Development Center at RANEPA, believes that mass training of digitalization specialists for business and the public sector will help solve the problem of personnel shortages. Natalia Danina, hh.ru's chief expert on the labor market , agreed with her, stating that the automation of business processes, especially those related to the company's core business, is one of the best modern alternatives to old methods such as extensive staff expansion.

The digital platform efficiency.rf, one of the elements in the structure of the national project "Labor Productivity", could become a tool for implementing this idea, noted Andrey Belousov. According to him, at the beginning of 2024, the authorities considered creating a nationwide network for increasing labor productivity with the participation of the platform. At the moment, the platform allows for the implementation of: optimization of customer paths and corporate management systems, digital transformation of medium and large enterprises, and building up the competence of labor resources.

On the efficiency.rf platform, enterprises can determine their current level of digital maturity, their market position relative to competitors, and develop a digital development plan free of charge. The platform also provides tools for selecting software to improve the efficiency of production, logistics, IT, marketing and sales, financial and personnel management.
