For this particular case, we had to go down all five roads to reach the conclusion we did: our tracking was off in the past.

However, this may not be the case for your company or your clients. You might start by looking at your keyword rankings, and notice that you are no longer ranking on the first page for your top ten keywords. If so, you have quickly discovered your problem, and your game plan should be to invest in your core pages to help you rank again for those core keywords.

If your goal completion is very low (the same armenia number data as your traffic), this is also a good indication that your declining traffic numbers are accurate.

If you've looked at all these metrics and still can't figure out the reason for the decline and you're blindly trying tactics and struggling to get back on track, this is a great checklist to go through to confirm the nagging question of a tracking issue or optimization problem.

If you're having the same problem as me, I'm hoping this post will help you get to the root of the problem quickly, and get you one step closer to creating realistic organic traffic goals for the future!
Yes! We've completed another year of traveling around the sun. And I'm back with another Moz Year in Review post that promises to be just as boring as its predecessors. Reading this feels like a space capsule traveling light years through empty space from your tin can. If you're a little weird and like that sort of thing, please continue.
