When you are a student, you have a lot of time. Apart from having fun at this time of your life, creating a blog can be an additional way to make the most of it. Here are 10 reasons to create a blog if you are still in college.

I started my first marathon blog (in German) when I was 25. That was the time when I started as a marathon runner, finishing my first race in 3:12:24. It was in 2005 when I was already doing my PhD in Switzerland with consulting projects for companies. I had my 10-11 hour workday and little time left for other things. There were always evenings and weekends when I would take the laptop and write posts about my new passion (as long as my girlfriend didn't tell me off for spending all day in front of the laptop).

I wish I had discovered the world of blogging earlier, for example during my studies. I have never had so much free time as I did then. It would have been the perfect time to start blogging. I dedicate this journalists email list post to all the students who are lucky enough (and maybe not 100% aware of it) to be studying and have a lot of free time. Maybe this post will inspire you to create your own blog. I have 20 minutes left to finish while the little one is sleeping so I will limit myself to 10 reasons to do so.
1. Generate monthly income : it is difficult to get rich with a blog but with dedication, desire and effort you can generate between 100-1,000 Euros each month . This extra income may now require you to find a job with something you don't really like. It must also be said that it cannot be achieved overnight. You have to invest at least 1 year before seeing the first results.
2. Get your name on Google : Student parties go from offline to online in minutes. Most people carry smartphones that allow them to instantly upload photos or videos to social media. When you send your resume to companies and people search for you on Google, a blog helps you get your name on the right side of links you might not want everyone to see.
3. Go deeper into a topic : If you already have an idea of what you want to focus on later in your career, a blog can help you go deeper into this topic. What you learn in university books is content that is at least 3-5 years old. After a couple of months of writing, you will even be able to provide new solutions and ideas to a topic and discuss it at the same level with your professor.
