In March 2020, Microsoft announced that Skype had 40 million daily active users. That number has now plummeted to 36 million users .

On the other hand, Teams, the other list of hong kong cell phone numbers Microsoft app focused on video calls, continues to exponentially increase its popularity . And if in July 2021 it had 250 million monthly users, in the first quarter of 2023 it managed to surpass the barrier of 300 million users.

Jaan Tallinn, one of the engineers involved in the birth of Skype, says that even though it has been more than a decade since he decided to cut ties with the company, he still uses this tool by default for making video calls.

However, "if people want to use some other channel, I'm happy to accommodate," Tallinn stresses.

It's unclear how long Skype will survive, but it has no intention of throwing in the towel for now. And this is despite the fact that in recent years the software has been exasperatingly slow to introduce innovations. When Skype launched group video calls with up to 100 participants in 2021, Teams had already had the same functionality (extended to 300 participants) a year earlier.
