With the advent of the internet and mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, we are online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During dinner, on the way to work or in the evening on the couch. You wake up with it and you go to bed with it. And the use of media has a great impact on the latter in particular.

The use of technology has changed our sleep. We sleep less hours. A third of people only sleep 5 to 6 hours a night. Before going to sleep, we spend hours busy with new habits. For example, watching television, checking e-mail and updating social accounts are new routines before going to sleep.

Most people spend their time on the internet. But posting messages on social networks or sending text messages are also high on the list. For example, almost three quarters go online to post messages on their social networks. More than 40 percent watch television on their smartphone in bed and 41 percent read a book. But we also want to be reachable while we sleep. For example, more than half have their smartphone ready to respond quickly.
