Briefly: How to lay off an employee

Dismissal due to redundancy is a procedure for terminating employment relations with one or more employees. The initiative in this case belongs to the employer. As a result, the number of employees who hold the same positions is reduced, or one or more job positions are removed from the company's staff.

To make a reduction:

Prepare all necessary documents. These include orders and notices of dismissal.
Before signing the order, find out whether any of the employees belong to the group of people who cannot be laid off.
Don't forget to deliver the notices on time - this must be donev two months before the expected date of termination of the employment contract. The notice must be signed by the employee.
Make all payments required by law: salary, unpaid vacation pay, benefits for two months after dismissal, if the former employee has not yet found a new job at that time.
Be sure to offer all suitable vacancies, even those that require lower qualifications and imply a lower salary than the employee was receiving.
Notify the employment service of upcoming layoffs two to three months in advance. This must be done through the "Work of Russia" portal.
