URL Removal Tool in Google Search Console

Post by sumaiyakhatun29 »

The simplest solution is to remove the page by generating a response code of 404 or 410. Both codes perform the same function. As a result, Google will remove the page from its index during its next crawl. According to John Mueller , the 410 code can be a faster way to remove a page.

From an SEO perspective, if a page is useful (e.g., it generates traffic or malaysia rcs data backlinks), then it makes sense to set up a 301 redirect to a relevant page to preserve the site's link weight.

If there are internal links on the page and you don't have a suitable page to do a 301 redirect to, then these internal links need to be removed or replaced with a 200 response code.

When to remove pages. If you don't need a page, if it has little value for your link profile, you can remove it without any unwanted consequences. If it's a useful page (for example, useful to users or valuable from an SEO perspective), then it's worth marking it with a noindex tag or setting up a 301 redirect to a relevant page.

The removal tool in Search Console temporarily blocks pages from appearing in search results. This is a temporary but effective solution to quickly remove a page from Google.

If you need to permanently delete a page, Google recommends using 404 or 410, blocking access to the content with a password, or adding the noindex directive to the pages.
