Virgin Hyperloop conducted its first passenger test of its hypersonic transport system on November 8, 2020. The test was successful at the DevLoop test site in Nevada, where a 500-meter-long vacuum tunnel was constructed.

The company says it has conducted more than 400 field tests saudi arabia number data before testing with humans. The first passengers were co-founder and CTO Josh Gigel and director of passenger services Sara Lucia.

A two-seat XP-2 capsule was built specifically for the tests — the production vehicle will accommodate up to 28 passengers, Virgin Hyperloop noted. The scaled-down prototype was supposed to demonstrate the safety of this type of travel.

During testing, the capsule reached speeds of 100 mph (about 160 km/h). Virgin Hyperloop predicts that the capsule will eventually be able to reach speeds of 670 mph (more than 1,000 km/h), but the company's current record, set in 2017, is 240 mph (386 km/h).
