Protection of the coastline and biodiversity
Crete is home to many endemic species linkedin data and Natura 2000 protected areas. The Balos Bay Marine Park is under enhanced protection, with visitor quotas and sanctuary areas. The loggerhead turtle nesting beaches are strictly monitored, involving tourists and locals in their preservation.

Traditional agriculture and short supply chains
The island is developing agritourism around its iconic products: olive oil, local wines and aromatic herbs. Traditional farms open their doors to visitors, offering immersive experiences in authentic Cretan culture.
