Is Spain highly or poorly digitalized? Do Spaniards have many or few digital skills? Do Spanish companies use technology a lot or a little? Is there really that much (or that little) work in the technology sector?
To help clarify these increasingly common questions, I've turned to the data. I've looked into the figures and statistics on digitalization in Spain.
And this is what the numbers have told me.
Contribution to GDP: 22% in 2020
The digitalization of the Spanish economy represented 22% of GDP in phone number list 2020, three percentage points more than in 2019, according to the report " Digital Economy in Spain " prepared by Adigital with the Boston Consulting Group. The direct impact of the digital economy on GDP was 10.9%, almost two percentage points higher than in 2019.
This growth represents a further acceleration of digitalization, which has been marked by three factors: the adoption of remote work in numerous sectors of the economy, the use of digital channels as the preferred means of establishing relationships with customers, and the increase in digital adoption by users.
Spain ranks seventh out of 27 EU Member States in the 2022 edition of the European Commission's Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) , up two places from the previous year.
Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden top the ranking of the most digitalized countries in the EU. At the bottom are Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece.
