Listening to the audience at Innova 2014

Post by pappu6329 »

We had the opportunity to interview Carmen Pena , a design professional and community manager of several online communities, so she could tell us about her experience at the innova 2014 conferences held on April 4 and 5 in Bilbao.

First of all, we would like to know your general perception of the event. What motivated you to attend? What were your expectations? Were they met?

They correspond to what I expected to see, a bit of everything in a theoretical tone without going into too much depth but enough to give you an idea. The content was quite complete from…innovation, starting a business, communication keys, even web analytics. Then there were parts that were perhaps more inspiring or curious, such as the intervention of Yoriento or Baptista.

Thinking about the content of the conference, do you think it was useful? If you had to highlight something in general, what would it be? What caught your attention the most?

There was a talk by Maite González about SEO positioning , which was practically a workshop. She explained specific things, positioning keys, on-page, keywords, she talked about creating a strategy … she said something that everyone already knows but that it’s worth remembering: “SEO is not free and you have to invest hours” . She also said a very funny but interesting phrase: “there is no better place to hide a corpse than the second page of Google”.

As a curiosity or inspiration, I was impressed by the National Geographic talk because it talked about their work processes, it was impressive. However, from my point of view, the most useful one seemed to me to be Gemma Muñoz's talk on web analytics, because Maite's talk about SEO was useful but personally I already had some knowledge on this point. On the other hand, web analytics is something that I know is important, but facing so many numbers... (ugh) and her way of talking about analytics was very motivating, it almost made me want to make tables, hahaha! She showed us examples of comparisons, she told us things that were obvious for someone who works in this field like you, but she clarified some key points for me.

The truth is that we have been following Gemma for a long time and we bosnia and herzegovina telegram lead could not resist reading her book “The Art of Measurement” and you know how motivating it can be, but listening to you we would like to know what surprised you or left a mark on you from the intervention on web analytics.

I was very struck by the approach, and I understood that analytics is much more powerful than it seems. It became clear to me that without a proposal for action, without objectives, there is no web analytics . Although it seems obvious, many times we limit ourselves to counting the number of friends and visits and we think we are doing something, but in reality we are not. We have to say, how long have these followers been around, why, and what action has driven them. We have to relate the data, always compare it and never treat it as something static . He insisted a lot on the fact that analytics is a business tool rather than a technique and to make the most of it you have to know how to combine the right data.
