What motivates us?
According to Pink, there are two basic types of motivation when it comes to work:

Motivation I comes directly from the employee. It is based on the assumption that if the employee enjoys doing the job, enjoys it and finds it fulfilling, they don't really need much motivation. So it focuses on creating a good environment for the employee.
The joke is that motivation X doesn't work in creative professions . On the contrary, they worsen performance and efficiency. Sugar and whip type rewards not only don't work anymore, but can even stifle intrinsic motivation, reduce performance and even lead to cheating.
Pink recommends rewards for manual, mechanical tasks – like employment database wrapping Christmas presents. This doesn't mean you should stop paying bonuses and 13th salaries. You can check which type you are personally in an online test .
Let things flow.
You've probably experienced it before. A state where you're so focused that you lose track of time and your surroundings. Pink calls this state flow.
We enter this state of concentration when we are doing something that fascinates or entertains us. Children are in this state almost all the time, even on a sandbox.
Scientists tried to take away flow from people. The subjects were not allowed to do anything that they enjoyed. After two days, people began to show symptoms of neurosis and anxiety . Flow is oxygen for our souls. That's why it's essential to do something that we have an intrinsic motivation for.
