The new purpose of LinkedIn Creator Mode and its flagship feature LinkedIn Cover Story is crystal clear. It empowers you to create an expressive and inclusive profile that showcases you and your skills. These new features support your professional journey.

Why is this necessary? According to data from LinkedIn (press release), almost half job function email database (48%) of jobs in the Netherlands were filled by employees who switched to an industry or function in which they had no previous experience in the past year. Showing yourself – broader than the traditional CV – has therefore become incredibly important. With LinkedIn Cover Story and the other features from Creator Mode, LinkedIn makes the recruitment process more accessible, inclusive and fair.

Harry Potter effect
One of the most important parts of this new feature is the video Cover Story. With this you can transform your profile photo à la Harry Potter into a moving image. With this personalized video, your profile comes to life in video and audio. This makes it possible to engage the audience in the most authentic way, convey your mission and reach recruiters. The length of the Cover Story is 20 seconds (now 30 seconds, ed.). So think carefully about how you are going to pitch yourself. The first 3 seconds are the most important, these play immediately when LinkedIn members visit your profile. If they want to see the entire 20-second video, they will have to click on the photo and then on 'view cover story'.
