The Solution is Sustainable Mobility

Post by Mitu100@ »

According to ACEA data, over 30 million jobs in Europe are directly or indirectly linked to the automotive industry and its supply chain. Declining sales and automation risk wiping out a significant part of these jobs, worsening the social and economic crisis. The regions most affected will be those traditionally linked to automotive production, such as Germany, France and Italy.

In this crisis scenario, it is necessary to phone number library radically rethink the future of mobility. Continuing to focus on a private car model, especially one powered by fossil fuels, is now unsustainable both from an environmental and economic point of view. The climate crisis forces us to abandon the paradigm of the traditional car and invest massively in sustainable mobility.

Electric vehicles are only part of the solution. We cannot simply replace combustion-engine cars with electric ones, keeping intact the mobility model based on the individual use of the private vehicle. Instead, we need to promote shared mobility, incentivize the use of public transport, bicycles and zero-emission vehicles, as well as promote urban planning that reduces dependence on vehicles.

Italy, in particular, needs to fill the infrastructure gap in public transport and in the adoption of new sustainable technologies. Italian cities still suffer from a chronic lack of infrastructure for electric mobility, such as charging stations. According to a 2024 study by Transport & Environment, Italy lags behind other European countries, with a very limited diffusion of the infrastructure needed to support a mass shift to electric vehicles.
