Introducing Vine

Post by Bappy32 »

Speed and relevance
Content marketing and hooks played a big role in 2013. In January, cookie brand Oreo jumped on the power outage during the Super Bowl in New Orleans by tweeting a photo with the caption “You can still dunk in the dark.” The tweet went viral, setting a new standard for the brand to tap into current events even faster with relevant content.

Social media are just one aspect of marketing, but they are becoming increasingly important. There were many developments last year and many updates were implemented by the social media networks. Hyves stopped as a social network and will continue as a gaming platform. Twitter went public and will probably add more features to generate advertising revenue and keep shareholders happy. In this article I will list a number of milestones of the past year.

1. YouTube One Channel available to everyone
YouTube has made the 'One Channel' layout available to all users. In this design, you have more possibilities for your branding with the new header and you can also make a short trailer about your channel. This trailer is automatically shown to all people who are not yet subscribed to your channel. This way you can show what your channel has to offer them. You can also determine the order in which you place your videos and playlists. In this article by Eelco Martens you can read more about the new YouTube.

2. Twitter shows images in the timeline
Twitter is becoming less focused on text. Images and other visual content are now displayed directly in the timeline. The network also introduced 'Twitter Cards', which allow marketers to collect leads directly from a tweet. This is easy for users, because it only takes one click, without having to fill in all kinds of information. Posting an image, video or sign-up form on Twitter becomes much more accessible and commonplace for the average user.

The age of social video has arrived. Vine was launched just a year kenya mobile phone number list ago, but this video network already has over 40 million registered users. Instagram responded immediately by also coming up with a video update, where it is possible to make videos of 15 seconds instead of the mere 6 seconds you have at your disposal on Vine.

Sharing a video from a mobile phone is now easier than ever. According to Facebook, posts containing video are shared 12x more often than links and text posts combined. If you’re not already using video in your content strategy, you might want to consider it.

4. Instagram introduces ads
Instagram has opted for an advertising- based revenue model . Using data from both Instagram and Facebook, Instagram will show ads tailored to your likes and who you follow. While it’s still in its early stages—the ability to advertise is currently limited to a few major brands—it’s an important update to consider going forward. One caveat is that Instagram ads can’t yet include referral links.

5. Facebook launches graph search
Facebook Graph Search is a new way to discover people, Pages and places on Facebook. With so much social data available on Facebook, the network introduced this brand new search feature. You can now search for relevant terms within posts, Pages, apps, groups and comments from your friends or people who post publicly.
